Sigma Chi’s commitment to lifelong learning extends beyond our undergraduate brothers — it also supports the alumni volunteers who provide stable, safe, and enriching environments for them. This year, that commitment took a major step forward with the launch of House Corporation Academy (HCA), a new educational program available through the Sigma Chi Leadership Institute (SCLI).
Developed through a significant collaboration among the Fraternity’s leadership, the Risk Management Foundation (RMF), the Constantine Housing Initiative (CHI), and dedicated alumni experts, HCA is designed to equip house corporation officers and volunteers with the knowledge and tools they need to effectively manage their chapter housing operations.
Earlier this year, the inaugural course — House Corporation Fundamentals — was successfully piloted and launched to key stakeholders across the Fraternity. The course covers essential topics such as board governance, property management, risk control, and communication with undergraduates and alumni. Feedback from pilot participants helped refine the learning experience, ensuring it meets the practical needs of volunteers serving in these critical roles.
Today, House Corporation Fundamentals is being rolled out to all current house corporation officers, with on-demand access available to additional board members and volunteers through manual enrollment in the SCLI learning platform.
This marks just the beginning of a broader educational initiative to help every house corporation strengthen its operations, protect its assets, and enhance the living experience for our undergraduate brothers. A future course, focused specifically on executing best practices in property management, is currently under development.
In the Spirit of Friendship, Justice, and Learning — House Corporation Academy is here to help you build a stronger foundation for your chapter’s future.
